Any Jersey Runners/Walkers in the House?

There is an Affiliate Summit team for the 2010 Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure, and we’re looking for more team members.

The 5k run/walk is taking place Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

You can also join the team and participate in the 1.5 Mile Fun Walk. And if you can’t make it, there is even an option to be on the team without taking a step with the “Sleep-In for the Cure” option.

If you aren’t interested in running, walking or sleeping for Team Affiliate Summit, it would mean a lot if you donated to our team (it’s tax deductible).

In 2007, I founded AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com (“AMGB”) with a goal to raise money for to support Breast Cancer research, treatment, awareness and community programs through combined efforts within the Affiliate Marketing industry.

Since then, through efforts with Affiliate Summit (Affiliate Summit) and Affiliate Marketers Give Back, we have raised a combined total of $165,000 for charities such as the Avon Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

On June 5-6, 2010, I will again be leading Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back as we take to the streets of Chicago for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Getting Ready for the Avon Dempsey Racing Champion’s Circle Event

Patrick Dempsey and Missy Ward During the Avon Walk for Breast CancerLast September, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. During that walk, we raised over $53,000, but that wasn’t the only highlight for me.

As a top-fundraiser of the event, I had the opportunity to meet my celebrity crush, Patrick Dempsey, who I’ve been a fan of since the first time I saw him in Can’t Buy Me Love (1987). :)

And yes, while many people adore him for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd (aka Dr. McDreamy) on Grey’s Anatomy, my admiration for him stems from his commitment to giving back to communities through his efforts with the Avon Foundation and the his opening of the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.

So when my contact at Avon called me to tell me that as a Top Fundraiser for the Avon Walk in LA this past year, I got into the “The Dempsey Racing Champions’ Circle“, I think I nearly deafened her with my screams.

So this weekend, I’ll be in Daytona Beach for the 2010 Grand Am Rolex 24 Race with a few other top fundraisers from the various 2009 Avon Walks. We’ll be hanging in the trenches as “Pit Crew for a Day” with Patrick and the Dempsey Racing Team, and going for rides in the Grand-Am VIP Pace Car amongst other scheduled activities.

So yeah, I’m pretty darn excited about the entire weekend and pleased to announce that Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back will again be walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this coming May 5-6 in Chicago. Come Cheer the Team On in LA (or from your PC!)

Well, the Avon Breast Cancer Walk is finally upon us.

When all said and done Team Affiliate Marketers Give back has raised $51,059.67 for the walk, making us the 5th highest fund raising team for the walk. (That’s a whole lot of access to care and dollars to fund research for a cure to this horrible disease.)

I’ve personally raised $20,400.00 making me the 3rd highest fundraiser overall and also affords me the opportunity to meet Patrick Dempsey. #McDreamyFanGirlSoWhat

I have all of you to thank for this. Without your support, whether it be via donations, marketing or cheering us on, we would not have raised as much as we did — especially in this economy!

So, I fly out tomorrow because I’m still chicken to fly on 9/11. Stupidsticious, I know; but that’s the way it is.

After check in on Friday, we have a team dinner at Wokcano’s, where I will be wrestling Chris Pearson for all the Ahi on the table. It’s going to be an early night for us because we have to be up and out the door by 4:45am to make the Opening Ceremony.

Overall, this is a 39 mile walk. On Saturday, we will walk 26+ miles and on Sunday, we will walk the balance.

A Great Big Thank You!

My fellow team member, Lynette LaPlante and I want to thank everyone who participated in the AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com Not-So-Silent, Silent Auction.

Together we raised an incredible $12,056.54 during the auction, which will be donated to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

(On a side note, I did the 60-mile Susan G. Komen walk in Lynette’s honor last year, when she was stricken by breast cancer. I am excited to say that she is doing well and is strong enough to walk with us this next month when Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back heads out for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles.)

Not-So-Silent Silent Auction to Fight Breast Cancer

Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back needs some help getting a few of their team mates over the fundraising minimum so that they are all able to walk together next month, during the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles.

They put out a call for donations for their Not-So-Silent, Silent Auction and they received some great items donated by fantastic individuals and companies. You’ll find the list of items below.

The auction will run until 11:59pm EST on Friday, August 28th. To bid on the item, simply enter your name and amount you would like to bid.     Save the Boobies with the Not So Silent, Silent Auction

    I have some fantastic news… and some not so fantastic news that I’m hoping to fix!

    The Fantastic News!

    In today’s mail I received my Champion Fundraiser Hat for being one of the Top 10 fund raisers for the upcoming Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles next month.

    Additionally, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back has edged our way up to being one of the Top 10 Team fund raisers for the walk, as we’ve raised a little over $21k so far… and we’re not through yet!

    The Not So Fantastic News

    When folks sign up to do the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, they agree to raise a minimum of $1,800 in order to actually participate in the walk. So while our team is doing great, we do have a few walkers that need some help hitting their minimum goal.

    We’ve trained hard for the walk and have worked out butts off fundraising, so the last thing I’d want is to not have a team mate be able to walk with us.

    With this weighing heavy on my mind, I’ve come up with plan to help them out with hitting their goal and I’m crossing my fingers that it will work!

    The Opportunity

    Affiliate Marketers Give Back will be holding what we’re calling the “Not So Silent, Silent Auction”, which will begin next week on http://www.AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com.

    We are asking individuals and companies to please help us by considering a donation of an item or services for us to auction off on the website, so that we can help get all of our team over the finish line.

    Donated items will be listed on the website (along with information on the donor and a link back to their website) and folks can bid for the items by providing their name and bid amount in the comment section of the post. Winners will be announced after the auction ends and will also receive a link back to their website.

    If you would like to donate an item or your services, please send me an email containing the item or service description, estimated value and any images that you might like to include.
